(Ottawa, Unceded Algonquin Territory, Ontario) – Assembly of First Nations (AFN) National Chief Cindy Woodhouse met with Her Excellency, the Right Honorable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, on January 10, 2024. The meeting was an opportunity for National Chief Woodhouse and the Governor General to discuss the critical relationships between First Nations and the Crown, including the necessary steps to advance reconciliation.
“I appreciate Her Excellency’s dedication to First Nations priorities and furthering dialogue between First Nations and the Crown,” said National Chief Woodhouse. “This was an opportunity for renewing and revitalizing our relationship with the Crown through our relationship with the Governor General who is King Charles III representative in Canada. We share many priorities and I expect we will make significant progress on these issues in the months ahead.”
