About the Event Special Chiefs Assembly – Long-Term Reform of the First Nations Child and Family Services (FNCFS) Program

About the Event

The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) will host the Special Chiefs Assembly on Long-Term Reform of the First Nations Child and Family Services (FNCFS) Program from September 17-19, 2024, at the RBC Convention Centre, located on the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabe, Ininew, Anisininew, Dene, and Dakota, within Treaty No. 1 Territory in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The SCA will focus on discussions and decision-making regarding the draft Final Settlement Agreement (FSA) related to the long-term reforms of the FNCFS Program, where Chiefs and Proxies will have an opportunity to deliberate on and vote on the proposed reforms. The SCA will feature expert panels, presentations, and discussions on the latest research, developments, and updates related to the FNCFS Program. Additionally, an in-depth review of the draft agreement will be conducted to provide clarity on each proposed reform.
