Ballot Results for the Election for the National Chief
The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) Special Chiefs Assembly (SCA) is being held in Ottawa, Ontario, from December 5-7, 2023. Voting for the National Chief began on December 6, 2023, and will resume on December 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. EST.
The first ballot results were:
- 162 (35.1%) for Cindy Woodhouse
- 118 (25.6%) for David Pratt
- 64 (13.9%) for Sheila North
- 58 (12.6%) for Dean Sayers
- 34 (7.4%) for Reginald Bellerose
- 8 (1.7%) for Craig Makinaw
The second ballot results were:
- 190 (41.2%) for Cindy Woodhouse
- 139 (30.2%) for David Pratt
- 57 (12.4%) for Sheila North
- 46 (10%) for Dean Sayers
The third ballot results were:
- 221 (47.9%) for Cindy Woodhouse
- 142 (30.8%) for David Pratt
- 44 (9.5%) for Sheila North
The fourth ballot results were:
- 237 (51.4%) for Cindy Woodhouse
- 142 (40.1%) for David Pratt
A fifth ballot opened at 9:00 p.m. EST and closed at 10:00 p.m. EST. 411 votes were cast.
The fifth ballot results were:
- 231 (50.1%) for Cindy Woodhouse
- 179 (38.8%) for David Pratt
A sixth ballot opened at 10:30 p.m. EST and closed at 11:30 p.m. EST. 415 votes were cast.
The sixth ballot results were:
- 234 (50.8%) for Cindy Woodhouse
- 181 (39.3%) for David Pratt
