The 45th General Federal Election is scheduled for April 28, 2025. The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) has released its 2025 Election Priorities Report, Prosperity for All: First Nations Priorities for the 2025 Federal Election, to inform First Nations and all Canadians about the urgent commitments needed from the next federal government to protect First Nations’ rights, uphold Treaty obligations, and advance economic and social well-being for First Nations.
Prosperity for All reflects mandates from First Nations-in-Assembly, existing Treaties, and international standards such as the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. In the report, the AFN identifies four key areas the next federal government must address:
- Economic Reconciliation
- Completing Calls to Action and Calls for Justice
- Well-being of First Nations Children, Families and Future Generations
- Community Safety and Security
