Due to ongoing wildfire emergencies in Manitoba and across the country, the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) has made the decision to postpone the 2025 Annual General Assembly to September 3-5, 2025. The location remains the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

This decision was made by the AFN Executive Committee in response to the ongoing wildfire situation, which continues to affect First Nations across the country. Many communities are actively engaged in emergency response efforts, and current conditions are impacting travel, accommodations, and the ability of delegates to participate in national gatherings. The AFN remains committed to supporting meaningful and safe participation for all member First Nations in the AGA.

The AFN will reimburse registration fees for those who registered and paid for the July AGA. Delegates who booked accommodations under the AFN hotel block will have their reservations automatically cancelled by the hotels. However, we encourage you to contact your hotel directly to confirm the cancellation. Updated booking information and registration details for the September AGA will be shared in the coming weeks.

The AFN recognizes the challenges this may cause for planning and appreciate everyone’s flexibility as we adapt to evolving conditions.

Additional information and updates will be shared on the AFN website in the coming weeks www.afn.ca. For media inquiries, please contact Genna Benson, AFN Director of Communications, at [email protected] or 604-340-3117.
