The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) Annual General Assembly (AGA) will be held July 14-16, 2026, at the Rogers Centre in Ottawa, located on Algonquin Territory, the unceded unsurrendered Anishinabe territory of the Algonquin Anishinabe Peoples.
The On-Time Resolutions package is now available publicly online. It includes 53 on-time Resolutions and one emergency Resolution. Read the package online:
Print copies of the Resolutions package will be available at the Distribution table in the AGA plenary room. For any questions on Resolutions, please email [email protected] or contact a member of the Resolutions Team at the Distribution table.
Electronic Voting Process
The AFN will again implement electronic voting at the AGA following its successful introduction during the Special Chiefs Assembly in December 2024, replacing manual vote counting and Zoom polling. Chiefs and Proxies, attending both in-person and virtually, will now use the AFN Electronic Voting Platform to cast their votes, enabling more efficient vote tabulation and allowing additional time for discussions.
To participate, Chiefs and Proxies will need access to a phone, tablet, or laptop. For those without a device, a designated on-site support room will offer technical assistance. Manual (lanyard) vote counting and Zoom polling will no longer be utilized. Voting will be conducted exclusively through the electronic platform.
- Pre-Registration – Chiefs and Proxies must submit government-issued photo ID (e.g., status card, driver’s license, passport) and a valid email address. Proxies must also upload a signed Proxy letter. Upon verification, participants will receive a six-digit passcode to access the voting platform.
- Check-In – All participants, whether attending virtually or in-person, must check in to activate their voting access. On-site registrants will complete this step at the registration desk.
- Voting Process – When a voting period opens, a link to the AFN Electronic Voting Platform and a confirmation code will be emailed to each registered Chief and Proxy. Chiefs and Proxies can select one of three options: support/for, against, or abstain. Once submitted, votes will be encrypted and securely stored in the platform’s database.
Support and Resources
A step-by-step guide to assist Chiefs and Proxies with the electronic voting process will be shared in advance of the AGA.
An on-site support room with technical staff for troubleshooting and assistance will be available. Charging stations and electrical outlets will also be made available through the venue. For further assistance, Chiefs and Proxies can reach the Help Desk by email at [email protected] or by phone at 1-833-236-8324 before and during the event.
