London, UK — Assembly of First Nations (AFN) National Chief RoseAnne Archibald travelled to Westminster Abbey today to attend the Coronation of Canada’s new Monarch, His Majesty King Charles III. Also attending were President of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami Natan Obed and President of the Métis National Council Cassidy Caron, who together shared an historic audience with His Majesty on Thursday at Buckingham Palace.
“I was pleased to read so much of the program dedicated to concepts of service, care of the people, and peace,” said National Chief Archibald of the coronation. “My favourite was when His Majesty said: I come not to be served but to serve.” The King swore an oath to govern the various Commonwealth realms according to their respective laws and customs.
“I especially appreciated that we were surrounded by so many grassroots people and great English men and women who humbly serve their country with a deep and abiding love and care for their communities,” concluded National Chief.
National Chief Archibald looks forward to attending the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle on Sunday night, as official celebrations draw to a close.
