(February 5, 2025 – Unceded Algonquin Territory, Ottawa) National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak issued the following statement today after Susan Bobbi Herrera, former Chief Executive Officer of the Confederacy of Treaty Six Nations, began her spirit journey.
“On behalf of the Assembly of First Nations, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and community of Susan Bobbi Herrera, known to many as Bobbi. She was a dedicated advocate for First Nations at both regional and national levels, making significant contributions to the well-being and advancement of many communities.
As Chief Executive Officer of the Confederacy of Treaty Six Nations, Bobbi worked tirelessly to advance First Nations’ inherent and Treaty rights, promote language revitalization, and improve First Nations health and well-being. She was deeply respected by her home community of the Yakama Nation in Montana, Maskwacis First Nation where she made her home, and many other communities across the country. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bobbi’s loved ones. We wish them comfort in the memories they share.”
