About the Event Assembly of First Nations (AFN) - First Nations Indigenous Skills and Employment Training (ISET) Agreement Holders’ Recognition Gala: A Legacy of Excellence

Join the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) for an Indigenous Skills and Employment Training (ISET) First Nations Agreement Holders’ Recognition Gala on September 17, 2025, at the Canadian Museum of History, on the unceded and ancestral territories of the Anishinaabe Algonquin, in Gatineau, Quebec.

Under the theme “A Legacy of Excellence,” this event invites ISET First Nations Agreement Holders, employment and training organizations, First Nation Chiefs and Councils, community members, economic development and workforce development officers, technicians, industry representatives, and government officials to attend an evening Recognition Gala. This in-person event will recognize and celebrate the achievements of individuals and First Nations ISET Agreement Holder organizations in celebration of the outstanding leadership and innovation in advancing employment and training for First Nations across Canada.

Indigenous Skills and Employment Training (ISET) Program

Administered through Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), the ISET Program  provides funding to Indigenous service delivery organizations that design and deliver job training services to First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and urban/non-affiliated Indigenous people in their communities. The AFN works closely with ESDC to support First Nations Agreement Holders of the ISET Program.

Nominations Open: June 16, 2025

Nomination Deadline: July 20, 2025, 11:59 PM EST

Nominations must be submitted through the Awardify platform by July 20, 2025, 11:59 pm EST.

We invite you to submit nominations for inspiring changemakers who have demonstrated commitment and excellence in supporting First Nations peoples through employment, skills development, and community-based workforce initiatives.

We are seeking nominations in the following six (6) categories and subcategories:

  1. Trailblazer Award
  2. Visionary Award
  3. Matriarch Award
  4. Gamechanger Awards
    1. Gamechanger Champion
    2. Gamechanger Gem
  1. Rising Star Award
  2. Pillars of Support Awards
    1. Lifetime Achievement
    2. Memorial Recognition

Eligibility

Nominees must be First Nations individuals, individuals who have worked with or currently with work a First Nations ISET Agreement Holder organization, or be a First Nations ISET Agreement Holder organization.

  • Self-nominations are accepted.
  • Nominees may be active or retired.
  • Posthumous nominations will be considered for the Pillars of Support Award.

 

How to Nominate

Complete the Awardify Online Nomination Form and attach the following to accompany the submission:

  • A detailed nomination letter (max 1,000 words) outlining the nominee’s achievements, criteria descriptions, and explaining why they deserve recognition.
  • One letter of support from individuals, organizations, or community members.
  • Optional supporting materials: photos, testimonials, news articles, program data, etc.

Nominations must be submitted through the Awardify platform by July 20, 2025, 11:55 pm EST.

Corporate Sponsorship

Sponsorship opportunities at the AFN-hosted events build awareness of your company or organization, raise the profile of your programs and services, and enhance community relations. The ISET Recognition Gala will bring together over 250 First Nations delegates from across Canada and is an excellent opportunity for sponsors to connect and engage with attendees.
